About Rootz

Understanding the product

Rootz is a project and hours management platform for professional services firms. It gives your team a single place to create projects linked to clients and teams, allocate hour budgets, log billable time, and see remaining vs. consumed hours from custom dashboards. It is built for law firms, accounting practices, consultancies, IT services, and any team that bills by the hour.
Rootz is built for agencies, consultancies, law firms, accounting practices, IT services firms, engineering studios, and solo freelancers — any team or individual that manages projects and bills by the hour. The Solo plan is free forever for individual professionals.
Each project in Rootz has an hour budget — the number of billable hours allocated. Team members log time against the project with a work description in seconds. Rootz instantly updates the remaining vs. consumed hours. You can see this per project, per team member, and across all active work on your custom dashboards. Hours can also be transferred between projects when scope changes.
Rootz is engineered specifically for teams that bill by the hour. Generic task managers do not understand hour budgets, billable time tracking, or remaining-vs-consumed visibility at the project level. Rootz connects clients, teams, projects, and hour budgets in a way that maps directly to how professional services firms work and bill.
Enter your email address on the login page. Rootz sends you a one-time code instantly. Enter the code to log in — no password to remember, create, or manage. If you close the tab, simply request a new code next time.

Currently, only the organisation owner can manage billing. If you need someone else to handle payments, contact our support team to discuss options.
Your data is safe. Nothing is deleted. Once you re-subscribe, everything is exactly as you left it. You will not lose any projects, hours, or team history.

Security & Data

Keeping your data safe

Yes. Rootz uses HTTPS for all connections, JWT-based authentication, and role-based access controls. Passwords are not used — authentication is via one-time codes sent to your email. Payments are handled by Paddle; Rootz never sees your card details.
Role-based permissions control what each person can see. Organisation owners see everything. Admins manage the organisation. Team members see only the projects their team is assigned to. Rootz enforces these permissions server-side.
Rootz collects the minimum data needed to provide the service: email address, name, and the work data you enter. We do not sell personal data. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
